4. Judges
The Physical Final is scored by a panel of three (3) judges. Judges score each entry independently against the rubric in Section 6. In the event of a tie, the Head Judge's decision is final.
5. Finals Rules
The following rules govern the Physical Final. Breaches may result in disqualification at the discretion of the judges and organiser.
| No. | Rule | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Build on-site | All code, hardware assembly, wiring, and integration must happen during the two (2) hour build window (12:15–14:15 MYT). Pre-built work brought to the venue is not permitted. An entry that is substantially built in advance will be disqualified. |
| 2 | Venue rules apply | Treat the venue, its staff, and fellow participants with respect at all times. Outside food and drinks are not permitted inside the venue. Follow all instructions from venue staff and the Organiser. |
| 3 | Qwen integration is mandatory | A Qwen model must perform genuine, demonstrable work within the build. The integration will be verified live during the demo. Trivial or non-functional integrations will score lower on the Qwen Integration Depth criterion. |
| 4 | Present a working prototype | Judging happens on stage during the Pitch Session. No slides are needed. Demo the functional build running live, talk the judges through it, and explain exactly how Qwen is used in your project. |
| 5 | Be ready for your slot | The Pitch Session runs from 14:25–16:06 MYT. Keep your build running and be ready to take the stage the moment your slot begins. |
| 6 | Timekeeping is enforced | Each team gets exactly three (3) minutes to pitch, followed by one (1) minute of buffer before the judges move on; the buffer is not included in the pitch time. Ten (10) marks are deducted from the team's total score for every five (5) seconds over the three-minute pitch limit. |
| 7 | Content rules apply | All entries must comply with the Content Rules (Section 5 of the Official Rules). Additionally, on-site builds must not pose a physical risk to attendees or the venue. Open flame, sharp or exposed objects, noxious fumes, live electrical hazards, or excessive noise are not permitted. |
| 8 | Attendance is mandatory | Shortlisted finalists must present on-site on 25 July 2026. A finalist who does not present forfeits eligibility for the finals awards. Remote participation is not accepted. |
| 9 | Judges' decisions are final | Scores are determined independently by each judge. In the event of a tie, the Head Judge's decision is final. Scores are not appealable. |
6. Judging Criteria
Shortlisted entries are scored by the judging panel against the weighted rubric below (total 100 points). Each of the three criteria is broken into sub-scores, marked separately and added together. The rubric, not community votes, determines the awards. Ties are broken by the higher Creativity & Originality score, then the higher Presentation & Showmanship score, then the higher Qwen Integration Depth score.
| Criterion | Sub-criterion | Points | What to look for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creativity & OriginalityThe 'useless but works' factor, and the heaviest-weighted criterion. Rewards a novel, absurd premise and an unexpected solution, not polish for its own sake. | Creativity | 20 | How inventive and unconventional the solution is. |
| Originality | 15 | How novel and unexpected the core idea is. | |
| Functionality | 15 | The build works as intended, however pointless the goal. | |
| Creativity & Originality subtotal | 50 | ||
| Presentation & ShowmanshipThe strength of the presentation: energy in delivery, a clear live demo, and controlled timing. | Delivery | 12 | Energy and conviction behind the premise. |
| Demoability | 10 | How clearly the build is demonstrated live. | |
| Timing | 8 | Pacing and flow of the presentation. | |
| Presentation & Showmanship subtotal | 30 | ||
| Qwen Integration DepthHow functionally and centrally a Qwen model powers the build. A model doing trivial work scores lower than one core to the function. | Functionality | 10 | How well the Qwen integration works and is demonstrated. |
| Centrality | 10 | How central the Qwen model is to the build. | |
| Qwen Integration Depth subtotal | 20 | ||
| Total | 100 | ||
7. Awards
Awards are determined at the Physical Final and awarded as Qwen API credits. Each placement is tied to a specific finals score.
| Placement | Award | Prize | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | Brainrot Champion | $500 USD in API credits | Highest combined finals score. |
| 2nd | Most Creative Qwen Integration | $300 USD in API credits | Highest Qwen Integration Depth score. |
| 3rd | Best Presentation | $100 USD in API credits | Highest Presentation & Showmanship score. |
